I've been blocking social media on the weekends.
I've started using Foqos to block social media on the weekends and it's been really nice!
It's good to try and keep my screentime down and when you're messing around on your phone there's usually something better you could be doing with your time, but in the end there's only a few apps that are actually bad habits for me and that's what I chose to block: Reddit and Bluesky. I don't need to block Instagram or Discord because for me those are just not applications I find myself spending much more than utilitarian time on (receiving and responding to messages, largely from people I know in real life).
Some phone fiddling, like responding to games on Chess.com or messing with my blog here, actually leaves me feeling good so I don't see any need to restrict it so long as I'm not using it to avoid my obligations or ignore my family or whatever.
It's been nice, though! It hasn't really made a difference in how much I go out and do things, having kids does enough of that and I have several social and club obligations on top of that. But the temptation to argue with people over the Internet when I'm tired or stressed out or bored is too much for me, and I can't honestly see myself giving up on it altogether but I think it can be nice (for me and everyone else in my life) to take a forced vacation from it fairly regularly.
