Getting started.
Like a lot of people I’ve become disillusioned with the Internet but also like a lot of people I love it, or did, I’ve been very online since I was 15 years old and I still believe in its ability to connect people to each other but a lot of it is obviously, literally evil. It’s a conundrum.
These ideas have been percolating for a while but I got kind of sidetracked when I had an another baby. The blog at my custom domain has one post currently.
But my dream is to reclaim some independence on the Internet, by: using a blog instead of a social media platform to update people about my family and projects; use a custom domain and pay for a service for email; maintain some computer services myself rather than rely on big tech companies for everything. It’s hard to do all this, raise the kids and work but it doesn’t feel totally out of reach either.
